Day post-op two from ALPPS stage 2 surgery. Pain but tolerable as long as I hit my button. Surgery went well and removed the rest of the diseased liver and my gallbladder. My liver remnant is at 37% from HIDA scan and was far less a week ago. So that’s enough to keep my alive and in about 3 months it will be normal size and function. Pain pump hitting me (hydromorphone)–I’m high. Check out duct-taped Sally (wound vac). Current discharge plan is the 18th but that is a pipe dream. Likely more like the 20 or 21st. Weight shifts due to fluid are insane.
Over 20 pounds of fluid (3rd spacing). My fluid status is very fluid. I’m babbling. Thank you baby jesus and any other deity and thank you to the doctors who did this for me that gives me a shot. May be out of here in a few days.
Day 1 post-op part 2. Diseased liver gone and gallbladder. Check out my breakfast and lunch and my bonus meal. So many different nurses today. My food arrives, yummy!!!! Window shot. Big weight swings. Blue ribbon popsicle!! PT kicked me out.
